Multiple Necks

The National Guitar Museum recently unveiled what it is calling “the world’s largest fully playable multi-necked stringed instrument” as part of its permanent collection. Called the Rock Ock (a nod to the “Spider-Man” villain with eight arms), it weighs 40 pounds, has 154 frets, 51 strings, and 51 tuning pegs. Comprised of a mandolin, ukulele, six-string, fretless bass, standard bass, 12-string, baritone guitar, and a seven-string, it was designed by artist Gerard Huerta.

Jimmy Page

Jimmy Page and his double neck Gibson … even though, he played my most favorite guitar of all – Fender Telecaster – on the recording of “Stairway to Heaven” …

Jimmy Page in an epic moment where the weight of his double neck guitar breaks his legs off at the ankles.

Jimmy Page playing his double-neck Gibson EDS-1275. He purchased the guitar in order to perform Stairway to Heaven live. When he recorded Stairway, he used three different guitars. A Martin acoustic for the intro, an electric 12 string for the harmony picking parts, and finally a Fender Telecaster for the guitar solo at the end.
